elevator door sensor serve as a core safety mechanism for ensuring the safety of elevator passengers. Primarily relying on infrared beam sensing technology to provide intelligent anti-pinch protection, these sensors are widely deployed in various types of passenger elevators, offering comprehensive safety coverage for both people and objects entering or exiting the cabin. The core operational logic is both precise and highly sensitive, enabling continuous, round-the-clock monitoring of the elevator door's opening and closing zones to prevent safety incidents-such as doors pinching people or objects-at the source.
During the door-closing sequence, the light curtain sensor continuously emits multiple parallel infrared beams, creating a dense, three-dimensional protective detection grid. When the detection zone remains unobstructed, all infrared beams transmit smoothly to their corresponding receivers; with the sensor signal remaining intact and stable, the system automatically verifies that the doorway area is safe, thereby allowing the elevator doors to proceed with their normal closing operation.
Conversely, should a passenger, a body part, or a personal belonging enter or linger within the doorway-thereby interrupting even a single infrared beam-the corresponding receiver will instantly detect the signal interruption. The sensor immediately triggers an intelligent safety response mechanism, halting the closing motion and reversing the doors to open them again, thereby forcibly aborting the closing sequence. The doors will not resume their closing procedure until the obstruction has been completely removed from the detection zone and the infrared beam transmission has returned to normal; this entire process operates via intelligent sensing-automatically starting and stopping-without requiring any manual intervention.
Compared to traditional mechanical safety edges, elevator light curtain sensors offer distinct advantages: high detection precision, a wide sensing range, rapid response times, and the absence of mechanical wear. Their highly sensitive detection capabilities allow them to accurately identify even subtle obstructions, eliminating safety blind spots. Furthermore, their stable and durable performance effectively enhances the overall safety and reliability of elevator operations, maximizing the protection afforded to both passengers and their belongings; as such, they constitute an indispensable core safety component within modern elevator systems.
