Speed governors are typically installed on the traction machine of an elevator and trigger corresponding safety measures by sensing changes in the elevator's speed. When the elevator speed exceeds the preset limit, the speed governor activates immediately, triggering a series of safety protection procedures to prevent serious accidents. The working principle of the speed governor is based on physics principles, utilizing the linkage mechanism of gears and steel cables. When the elevator is running normally, the tension on the steel cable is proportional to the weight of the elevator. Once the elevator speed is too high, the tension in the steel cable will exceed its normal tension range, causing the braking device within the speed governor to activate.
